How to make logical gates with transistors...

21/02/2018

INTRODUCTION

In this project I want to show you how to build AND, OR and NOT gates with transistors, but first, we need to know how a transistor work:

TRANSISTORS

A transistor is a semiconductor device used to amplify or switch electronic signals and electrical power. It is composed of semiconductor material usually with at least three terminals for connection to an external circuit. A voltage or current applied to one of the transistor's terminals (Base) allows the stream of current through another pair of terminals (Collector-Emitter).

NOT GATE

We will use the following equipment:

• a breadboard
• some wires
• 10k ohm resistor
• 200 ohm resistor (You can use also a 4.7k ohm resistor)
• a LED diode
• a button
• a transistor
• 5v power souce

The Circuit:

AND GATE

We will use the following equipment:

• a breadboard
• some wires
• Two 10k ohm resistors
• 5k ohm resistor
• a LED diode
• two buttons
• two NPN transistors
• 5v power souce

OR GATE

We will use the following equipment:

• a breadboard
• some wires
• two 10k ohm resistor
• 5k ohm resistor (You can use also a 4.7k ohm resistor)
• a LED diode
• two button
• two transistor
• 5v power souce
